Giving Opportunities
Your Gift Makes the Difference
When you choose to give to Campbellsville University, you affect student lives.
Your gifts provide a way for students to come to Campbellsville and experience the Christian education we provide. Your kindness and generosity is what allows us to continue spreading the light of God around the world, around our community, and - more importantly - in the young minds of our students. If you are able to devote any amount of your time, energy, or income to our cause we would appreciate it beyond belief.
Campbellsville Experience Leads to a Life of Service
As a teenager, Mickey Martin trusted Christ as her Savior and made a commitment to give her life in service to the Lord. Her favorite verse is John 10:10, where Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.”
This verse would guide her Christian walk. Very early in Mickey's life it became evident that God had gifted her to teach, and she was eager to use this gift.
The leaders of her church recognized her giftedness and knew of her desire to go to college. Her church family played an important role in helping Mickey attend Campbellsville College both by providing recommendations and financial support. Soon she was on her way by train and bus to the campus.
Mickey knew no one at Campbellsville College but said, “I never felt like a stranger and was accepted warmly.” Because of this acceptance and love, she said, “I gained confidence in myself and believed the Lord could use me.” As a student, Mickey worked as assistant manager in the bookstore and in her second year was voted the Best All-Around Girl. It was Mickey's desire to be used by God and use her He did!
Mickey would go on to earn a master's degree in Religious Education at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and work in several churches before joining the Kentucky Baptist Convention staff in the Church Training Department. From there Mickey moved to the National Women's Missionary Union headquarters where she worked for 20 years. She retired as a General Administration Consultant.
As she reflects on her life, Mickey said:
“The Lord continues to bless me and gives me many opportunities for service in some great places. Campbellsville College was the beginning point and a springboard in helping me get started on the right road. Initially, this relationship prompted me to join the President's Club and to get connected with others who had a heart for helping students. Additionally, God would lead me to remember Campbellsville University with a gift in my will so other students can have the same wonderful experience.”
